Historically, Bhutan was known by many names, such as ‘Lho Mon’ (Southern Land of Darkness), ‘Lho Tsendenjong’ (Southern Land of the Sandalwood), ‘Lhomen Khazhi’ (Southern Land of Four Approaches), and ‘Lho Men Jong’ (Southern Land of Medicinal Herbs).
Bhutan, renowned for its outstanding botanical diversity over 70 % of country is covered by virgin forest. Anyone having admiration for botany will fulfill their pleasure by going Botanical tour in different parts of kingdom. More than 5,400+ species of plants have been identified, which includes 600 orchids and 46 varieties of rhododendron. Many of these plants are used in traditional medicine practices.
